SOLAR INSTALLATION
The solar field at Steffensmeier’s will reduce Green House Gas emission by 8,937 metric tons of CO2 over 25 years. This is the equivalent of 229,154 trees planted and grown for 10 years, or not burning 9,599,356 pounds of coal. The solar installation also allows Steffensmeier customers to use sustainable marketing accolades, such as “our products were fabricated with solar energy.”
SYSTEM SIZE
428.4 kW ground mount array, comprised of 1,428 (300 watt) polycrystalline solar panels.
PRODUCTION
The installation is designed to generate 550,209 kWh annually (production data is based on NREL and PV Watts). The installation is designed to cover 100% of the company’s current energy needs and is expected to be the first fully solar powered manufacturing and fabrication facility of this size in Iowa.
SYSTEM LIFECYCLE
Solar panels are warrantied for 25 years but typically continue to produce energy for 30-40 years.
